Graffiti Modular No.6

The Graffiti Modular Project

This body of work combines two visual subjects: graffiti and architectural ornamentation. It explores the tension between the ephemeral nature of graffiti and the permanence traditionally associated with architectural ornament. I view both as forms of visual communication that reflect culture and contribute to the identity of the built environment.

The Graffiti Modular Project is an ongoing exploration of how these seemingly opposing practices intersect. It examines the relationship between guerrilla-style artistic intervention and the sanctioned, institutionalized traditions of art, architecture, exclusivity, and "chosen" works. Through modular sculptural forms and installations, I investigate how visual language is created, disseminated, and embedded within the urban landscape.

My name is David Lee Bermudez. I am a multidisciplinary visual artist whose practice focuses on graffiti and architectural ornamentation, specifically where these two visual traditions overlap. My work explores how they function as cultural markers within the built environment and how they shape the visual identity of cities by communicating values, histories, and collective experiences.

This is a chance for you as a buyer to invest in a local artist. All revenue earned will go towards my art practice and continuing goal of making art.

All Artwork is 1 of 1 and will come signed by me.

Part of a series called “Graffitants”, each sculpture explores world building/character building. The sculpture by its own nature, moves in space, breathing, creating tension and compression for by-passers to respond to. The feeling that the graffitant is expressing its own emotion, such as happiness, sadness , anger, etc, depending on its figurative like composition.

I’ve coined “Graffitants” as a way to tie subjects together. The word stems from the idea that architecture, graffiti, and human-like forms merge, creating what I call in essence a Graffitant.

I have a belief that built environment, and fashion, are intertwined. Culture is influence by spaces we share and the clothes we decide to put on.

The graffitant is a representation of those collective subjects through material, and gestural artistic exploration.
